Conference on Social Justice Theatre coming to South Bend

A conference taking place in South Bend in April is hoping to give participants a unique way to bring about social change.

Interaction Initiative Inc. is putting on the conference. It’s meant for people who want to find ways to use theatre and art to highlight issues dealing with social justice.

Taeyin ChoGlueck is one of the co-founders of Interaction Initiative. She said they want people to leave to conference with real ideas for change.

“The title of our conference is Community Theatre for Social Justice Action, and we want them to leave with strategies for action and implementing that.”

ChoGlueck’s co-founder Deandra Cadet says part of the idea is also networking, connecting those who want to use theatre for change with others who do as well.

The keynote address is by writer and poet Ntozake Shange and a few theatre performances during the conference will be open to the public.

The conference is in April 27th and 28th in South Bend.
