Mexicans go to the polls Sunday to elect a new president. The vote will determine whether Mexico joins the region's leftward trend, or deepens free-market reforms and its already close alliance with the United States. Polls have shown the race will be close between leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and conservative Felipe Calderon.

In Limbo, Jetliners Get a Little TLC
With commercial airlines struggling to cut costs, they often pull aircraft out of service, putting them into storage at places like the Pinal Air Park in the Arizona desert. There, rows and rows of airliners sit baking in the sun, their windows taped against wind-blown dust. Workers at the facility periodically start the planes' engines, much the same way one would start an old Volvo in the driveway to keep it from seizing up.

Former NPR Commentator Rod MacLeish Dies
Roderick MacLeish mischievously told people he was a wild animal trainer from Kenya. He said he was once a prisoner in Siberia, rescued by a pair of huskies. But the truth of MacLeish's life was far more interesting. The filmmaker, author and former NPR commentator died Saturday. He was 80.

Militants Issue Ultimatum over Captive Palestinians
Three militant Palestinian groups, believed to be holding a captured Israeli soldier, say Israel has until Tuesday to release Palestinian prisoners, or "bear all the consequences."
