Michigan To Study Toll Roads

The state will hire a firm to study the possibility of changing some freeways in Michigan to toll roads.

Indiana State Police have released the name of the ITRCC maintenance worker who was struck and killed while working on the side of the Indiana Toll Road.  He is identified as Ronald Smith, 61, of Edwardsburg, Michigan.


Indiana State Police are investigating a crash that killed an Indiana Toll Road worker.

The Michigan Senate has voted to require that a study be done to assess the feasibility of tolls along the state's highways.

Indiana State Police responded to a Toll Road crash in Elkhart County on New Year's Eve morning that left a semi dangling after the cab of the truck fell onto railroad tracks below.

Indiana State Police have released details of a deadly crash on Monday, Dec. 30th in which they say that a vehicle going west in the eastbound lanes was it by a semi.

Indiana State Police Trooper Brett Adair has graduated from K-9 Training School with his new partner, Zoia.

The duo worked on skills in tracking, building searches, obedience, handler protection and drug recognition. 

Zoia is a female Dutch Shepherd purchased in Berrien Center, Michigan.  Zoia is from Poland and is the first Dutch Shepherd to be used by the Indiana State Police.

Trooper Adair has been with ISP for four years. He is from St. Joseph County and patrols the Toll Road in LaPorte, St. Joe and Elkhart Counties. 

Officers Shoot At Suspect On The Toll Road

Efforts to capture a suspect Wednesday afternoon on the Toll Road turned violent and dangerous. You can read the release from Indiana State Police about what happened in its entirety here.

Indiana State Police say two people were arrested after a pursuit on the Toll Road in Elkhart County early Thursday morning. Police say the Merecedes involved was stolen out of St. Joseph County. During the pursuit, police say suspected drugs were being thrown out of the vehicle. A bag of suspected meth was found inside a baby seat according to police.

A South Bend woman and a Michigan City man were taken into custody.

Indiana State Police released information about what started as a routine stop to assist a motorist but ended with the discovery of a driver who was unconscious with a syringe still in his arm. The release is below:

One Dead In Fatal Fiery Crash On Toll Road

A 22-year-old Chicago man is dead after crashing this morning on I-80/90.

The man who died is identified by Indiana State Police as James J. Ariel. He was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu (pictured) at the time of the crash.  

It happened at the entrance ramp from I-65 north bound to where the Toll Road merges to I-80/90 west bound. First responders were unable to gain entry into the car due to the intense fire.  

Lake and LaPorte counties joined forces and submitted a bid for the remainder of Indiana's Toll Road lease.
