The City of South Bend cut the ribbon on a new roundabout at the intersection of Olive Street and Sample Street.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, along with members of the community, including 6thdistrict council member Oliver Davis and County Council member Dave Thomas, praised the hard work of everyone involved in the new roundabout.

Buttigieg said the city is pleased to work with different levels of government in order to bring improvements to roads and other infrastructure. He said that although the roundabout is important, it’s just a part of a bigger picture.

“Upgrading this bridge is a good example of how we work to make sure that our vision for transportation isn’t just about smart streets,” he said, “it’s also about smooth streets.”

Buttigieg said the city is currently paving roads throughout the South Bend to make best use of infrastructure funding.
