Edwardsburg Eddies In State Football Finals For Second Straight Year

The Edwardsburg High School Football team will play in state finals in Detroit today for the second year in a row.

The Eddies boast an undefeated record going into today’s game against the Chelsea High School Bulldogs.

Last year the team made it to state finals, then lost to Grand Rapids Catholic Central. They played that team last weekend, winning in overtime by denying the Cougars a two point conversion. The final score: 46 to 44.

Edwardsburg Athletic Director Kevin Dean said the school has been selling tickets to the game and he expects a good turnout of Eddie Fans.

“Ford Field’s a huge venue. It’s a professional stadium that seats 60,000, but we filled the one whole side behind our bench was just sections of Eddies Fans in orange shirts so it’s pretty neat to see and I know we’ll have a similar turnout. We’ve been selling tickets pretty quickly this week. Yeah, everyone’s very excited.”

The game at Ford Field starts tonight at 7:30. It will be broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit and can be watched online.
