Dec. 24 at 7pm: All Songs Considered for the Holidays: Bob And Robin's Holiday Cruise to Bermuda

This year, All Songs Considered hosts Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton decide to get away from it all with a holiday cruise to Bermuda.

Along the way they meet a few special guests aboard the ship, including John Legend, Aloe Blacc, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, William Shatner, Lucius, Micky Dolenz of The Monkees and Rodney Crowell, who all try to share their own good cheer for the holidays.

But nature inevitably runs its course and the gang finds itself stuck in the swirling vortex of the mystical Bermuda Triangle, desperate for some sort of passage back home. It all unfolds like a bad high school play in this regular, seasonal spoof from NPR Music.  More information is here.

A Christmas Carol Presented By the Elkhart Civic Theatre in a special taping on Dec. 5 is set to air on 88.1 WPVE on Dec. 24 at 8 PM and Dec. 25 at 1 PM.

The Charles Dickens holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940's radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), and the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying “Bah Humbug!”

Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols as performed by the Notre Dame Children's Choir will air Christmas Eve and Christmas Day immediately following A Christmas Carol. Listen for that Dec. 24 at 9pm and Dec. 25 at 2pm.
