Middlebury Riverfest

Middlebury Riverfest

Middlebury Riverfest is an outdoor, interactive event that both entertains and educates kids and the adults in their lives about the nature, the environment, and the value of fresh water. Celebrated on the banks of Middlebury's cold-water trout steam, the Little Elkhart River, Riverfest brings together natural resource educators, outdoor games, arts and crafts as well as fun, interesting events throughout the day designed to allow festival goers to experience the learning at their own pace. The day includes an electro-fishing river sampling where you can meet the residents of our local waters as well as a live animal program by Indiana Wild featuring curious critters from other continents and learn how each depends on water for survival. Humans also need water for life...and for FUN, so free kayak rides down the Little Elkhart will be led by Michiana Paddlers and recycled materials will be available for kids to build their own entries for a boat race sponsored by Middlebury Then and Now. Games, art projects and a free drawing for a kayak round out the day. The event is free for all excluding food and drink purchase from a tasty line-up of food vendors. "Edutainment awaits!
