SpartanNash To Purchase Martin's Super Markets

Little is expected to change at Martin’s Supermarkets as SpartanNash takes over as owner. That’s according to Martin’s CEO Rob Bartels.

The sale was announced Tuesday and is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2019.

Bartels said costumers won’t see much change as many of the products sold at Martin’s are already distributed through SpartanNash.

“We know what makes us great and that’s our teams. We know what makes us go and that’s our customers. And we live for customer service and that will continue the way it always has.”

Bartels said no Martin’s locations will be closed, no employees will be laid off and the company’s community outreach programs will continue.

He said SpartanNash agreed to the deal in part because of the reputation Martin’s has in Michiana.
