A Month After Transition, Flagstar Settling In To Former Wells Fargo Branches

Flagstar Bank

A month after the transition new Flagstar bank locations across Indiana and Michigan have quieted down.

Flagstar purchased 52 Wells Fargo locations in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.

All the branch employees were transferred to being Flagstar employees, and branches were readied to serve nearly 50-thousand customers that would be transferred as well.

The transfer happened on Monday December 3rd. That’s when the wheels came off.

Issues with ATMs and online banking drove customers to branches or the phone help line leading to long wait times.

Todd McLaughlin is the Director of Branch Banking for Flagstar.

“A month in, I’m really happy to tell you that things have definitely normalized. Our call center volume is back to where we anticipated it would be. All of our ATMs are up and working.”

McLaughlin said Flagstar is excited to expand their branch footprint and serve customers in Michiana.

Wells Fargo has been under fire for a scandal unearthed last year. Some Wells Fargo employees pressured by high sales goals made up accounts and services, like loans and mortgages, for customers who did not consent to them.

McLaughlin said locally, customers trust their branch employees and are glad to see familiar faces in banks with a new name on the building.
