BREMEN, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a 1-year-old child has died after being found unresponsive in a lake in northern Indiana.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the child died Monday at a hospital after being found Saturday night in Lake of the Woods near Bremen in Marshall County.
The DNR says an initial investigation found that family members were ending a birthday party when they noticed a back door to the home was open and the child was missing. Following a brief search, the DNR says family members found the child floating in 1.5 feet (0.5 meters) of water.
The child's name wasn't immediately released. The death is under investigation.
