The cities of Warren, Flint, and Jackson all had mayoral primaries on Tuesday, with the top two vote-getters advancing to November's general election.
In all three cities, the incumbents won their races and will move on.
In Warren, Michigan's third-largest city, controversial longtime Mayor Jim Fouts easily took the primary with 58% of the vote. He'll face City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Colegio in the general election.
In Flint, one-term incumbent Mayor Karen Weaver, who came into office in the immediate wake of the city's tainted water crisis, narrowly bested State Rep. Sheldon Neeley, 42%-39.5%.
And in Jackson, incumbent Derek Dobies, who's led the city since 2017, took home 56% of the vote with challenger City Councilman Jeromy Alexander taking 27%.
Voter turnout was low across the board: less than 10% in Jackson, 17% in Warren, and just under 12% in Genesee County, where Flint is located.
