Goshen Surpasses Fundraising Goal For Inclusive Playground

City of Goshen/Patronicity

The city of Goshen has surpassed a $50,000 fundraising goal for a new inclusive playground.

The city will continue to raise funds on Patronicity until the December 11th deadline. The additional funds will be used to upgrade certain pieces or add more equipment.

The $400,000 project is also funded in part by a state grant.

Tanya Heyde is the Parks and Recreation Superintendent in Goshen. She said the pieces that make up the playground were thoughtfully selected.

“Some of the panels and equipment were specifically chosen to kind of offer something for everyone regardless of ability. Whether it be mobility of cognitive impairment.”

Heyde said the playground is meant to allow children and their caregivers of all ability levels to play together in one space.

Groundbreaking for the playground is scheduled for the spring. Heyde said the facility should be open for play right around when kids get out of school for the summer.
