Aiming to reduce infant sleeping deaths, Prevent Child Abuse St. Joseph County has launched a new public service announcement campaign urging that infants should sleep on their backs, in a crib or bassinet, without pillows, blankets or toys around them.

“In our local hospitals, we’re seeing quite an increase over this last week in the number of folks who are testing positive for influenza, though I will say it’s nice that the number of folks hospitalized with influenza is a little bit lower this week than it was in the last couple of weeks,” Dr. Jason Marker said in a Beacon Health System YouTube video Wednesday.

Beacon Health System launches a food relief collaborative to address rising food insecurity across northern Indiana communities.

“So in the past, when we worked together, whether it was in trauma or our NICU or maternal care, we would do these on a one-off basis, whereas this creates a system and a structure that allows research opportunities, when they present, to kind of be accelerated through the process,” said Beacon Health System Chief Operating Officer Mark Brett.
