“We do not have our employees lifting or transporting any material," said Amazon site leader Bhautik Motiwala. "Robots do the job for them. Robots bring the shelf to the employees. Employees do not go to the shelf.”

The new Amazon facility plans to hire for 1,000 full-time positions with benefits averaging $19 an hour. The jobs will mix physical labor with technical skills developed to operate robotics.
