The St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission on Tuesday will consider whether to hire a firm to study the feasibility of installing a pedestrian tunnel under the two sets of railroad tracks in New Carlisle.

The city of South Bend says the $10 million project, to narrow Bendix Drive from Voorde Drive to Lathrop Street and add a pedestrian path, is ready to start next year now that federal funding, comprising just over half the cost, has been confirmed.
