Canadian National will host a whistle stop event at South Bend’s Union Station, as efforts to bring Amtrak to the site gain momentum.

“Obviously, we’re in close communication with area meteorologists, and if the situation changes, we may make a different decision,” said Downtown South Bend Executive Director Willow Wetherall.

“When you have friends or family come to South Bend and they say, ‘Where should I go?’ and, like, what we want people to think about is this area,” said Planning Director Tim Corcoran.

The university plans to move some faculty and staff into the building for innovation and research in artificial intelligence, advanced computing and data analytics.
