The city of South Bend will reimburse residents for replacing broken sidewalks and curbs or for adding them where there are gaps.
The program allows property owners to contract work on sidewalk and curbs that abut their property. The city will pay $20 per linear foot for sidewalk, and $15 for curbs.
In some cases the city will also reimburse for ADA compliant ramps.
The work must be done by a contractor that’s bonded with the city’s public works department. The resident must also apply and get pre-approval before construction begins.
