Retired Judge Robert Miller, Sr. - Advocate For Vets And The Homeless - Has Died

Center for the Homeless via Facebook

Officials with Welsheimer Family Funeral Homes in South Bend have confirmed they are handling services for 98-year-old Retired Judge Robert L. Miller, Sr.

The judge was the founder of "Miller's Vets" which is an organization that recruits homeless and disadvantaged veterans to serve in a color guard unit.  There is also a Robert L. Miller, Sr. Veteran's Center that provides services to homeless veterans in conjunction with the Center for the Homeless in South Bend.

According to the Center's website, the Miller facility is a separate building and is home to 24 male homeless veterans. Veterans work with a VA Liaison and staff to remove barriers to self-sufficiency and have access to addiction treatment, individual and group therapy, clothes and meals. They are given support as they process their PTSD and other medical issues.

Information on services is pending.
