Warming shelters open in Elkhart County

Wind chill values are expected to be as low as -10 degrees through most of Wednesday. In response, several warming shelters have opened throughout Elkhart County to combat the cold.

Elkhart

Elkhart Central Fire Station (500 E. St.)

  • 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Guidance Ministries (216 N. 2nd St.)

  • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday
  • 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday 

Faith Mission (801 Benham Ave.)

  • Overnight shelter opens at 6 p.m.

Goshen

Goshen Public Library (601 S. 5th St.)

  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday
  • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

Wednesday is an e-learning day for all Elkhart Community Schools students due to the weather. All ECS buildings are closed for the day.
