St. Patrick's Park Eaglets are Hatching!

ND-LEEF

The first of the eggs in the eagles’ nest at St. Patrick County park hatched over the weekend. Two other eaglets are expected to hatch in the next few days.

The nest has been at the Notre Dame Linked Environmental Ecosystem Facility since 2015. The eagles took the nest over from a pair of red-tailed hawks.

The eagle cam can be viewed live online.

Assistant Director Brett Peters said “Over the next few months, eagle cam viewers can expect to see lots of interesting prey items being brought to the nest and the eaglets growing and learning to fly for the first time.”

Notre Dame is hosting an eagle chat with Peters, who manages the in-nest eagle cam and supports the social media channels for ND-LEEF and Evie Kirkwood, director of St. Joseph County Parks on Thursday afternoon at 2. On the ND Environmental Change Initiative's YouTube Channel and social media channels.
