UPDATE: Arrest In Weekend Killing In South Bend

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has released new information on charges against a weekend murder suspect.

Today the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Kristy Lynn Hawkins, 38, with Murder and a Firearm Sentencing Enhancement. She was charged in the June 13, 2020 shooting death of a 17 year old (Curtiss Drive, South Bend).


Probable cause was found. Defendant was ordered held without bond. She was previously
arrested in this investigation on June 17, 2020, and was booked into the St. Joseph County
Jail, where she remains in custody. Her arraignment is scheduled for Monday, June 22,
2020 at 1:00 p.m.

The sentencing range for Murder is 45 to 65 years. A Firearm Sentencing Enhancement
can add an additional 5 to 20 years to the conviction of the underlying offense.


Please be advised that the charge filed against this defendant is merely an accusation and
that she is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's office has announced that an arrest has been made following a deadly weekend shooting in South Bend.

St. Joseph County –Today the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) arrested Kristy Lynn Hawkins, 38, in connection with its investigation into a June 13, 2020 fatal shooting on Curtiss Drive, South Bend. She was arrested on preliminary suspicion of Murder and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail, where she remains in custody.


On June 13, 2020, at approximately 3:53 a.m. South Bend Police Department officers responded to the 3400 block of Curtiss Drive in South Bend, IN regarding a citizen who reported gunshots being fired and observing an individual lying on the ground. Upon arriving in the neighborhood, officers found a male juvenile on the ground suffering gunshot wound injuries; he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The juvenile has been identified as Allen Williams, 17, of Chicago.


Ms. Hawkins’ arrest remains under review by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office and no formal criminal charges have been filed at the issuance of this release.
