Indianapolis-Based Design Firm Will Build The Elkhart Co. Consolidated Courts Facility

Indianapolis-based design firm Performance Services has been chosen to build the consolidated Elkhart County Courts facility. The County Commissioners approved the partnership at their biweekly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Last week, the county’s Technical Review Committee interviewed project teams and ranked them using factors like local participation and courthouse facility experience. Out of three finalists, Performance Services scored the highest.

The firm will partner with Goshen-based Ancon Construction and other local contractors to provide site analysis and other services.

After three years of planning, Commissioner Suzie Weirick said it’s exciting to move forward with design and construction.

“We still have a long road to go, but it’s going to be very exciting," she said. "It’s so close, right? You can almost taste it.”

Weirick said groundbreaking at the project site along Reliance Road in Goshen is scheduled for August. The Elkhart County Courts complex is scheduled to be fully operational by late 2023. The plan moves the county courts out of the downtowns of both Elkhart and Goshen.
