St. Joseph County Council Democratic President Pro Tem Bryan Tanner says Democrats' coalition with Republican Dan Schaetzle worked well, including tapping cash reserves to shore up police pensions and double road repair spending.

To promote bipartisanship, Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will come to Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 19 for "Pragmatism Over Polarization: A Conversation with U.S. Governors."

Notre Dame Professor of Democracy David Campbell says he's optimistic Congress will consider some regulation of social media, since there's bipartisan agreement that social media poses a real threat to democracy.

Democrats will chair the St. Joseph County Council's four standing committees, each containing Republican majorities, and members will be assigned to sit near each other and share office space.
