South Bend Community Schools Corporation Trustee Bill Sniadecki is asking a federal court to intervene and put him on the St. Joseph County Public Library board before it passes its 2026 budget Oct. 20.

The South Bend School Board president has named a new member to the St. Joseph County Public Library Board, but the library says there isn’t an opening.

Board President Jeanette McCullough declined to comment Wednesday on why she called the special meeting to consider placing Superintendent Todd Cummings on leave. A meeting agenda states the board will appoint a temporary superintendent if needed.
