Niles Mayor Nick Shelton says buying power directly from solar panels at the airport will save the city money in the long run as renewable energy costs grow with demand in coming years.

The city of Niles initially created the NODE area in 2020 to help downtown bars and restaurants survive the Covid pandemic. Since then Mayor Nick Shelton says the city has used $650,000 in state and federal grants to make it look much better.
