Republicans Griffin Nate and Jackie Horvath, the St. Joseph County party chair, petitioned the county Election Board to keep Republican County Council member Dan Schaetzle off the May primary election ballot because the district and state GOP have ruled he's not in good standing with the party.

South Bend Community Schools Corporation Trustee Bill Sniadecki is asking a federal court to intervene and put him on the St. Joseph County Public Library board before it passes its 2026 budget Oct. 20.

The St. Joseph County Public Library Board isn’t letting the South Bend School Board president’s new appointment take his seat. The library board passed a resolution Monday denying a request to seat Bill Sniadecki, saying that the seat is already filled.
