After seeking legal advice, the St. Joseph County Democratic party says that Sharon McBride's intent to return to her home, despite staying elsewhere temporarily, means she hasn't officially moved.

When asked if she lives in her council district, South Bend Common Council President Sharon McBride said she pays a mortgage and utilities there. Council Member Oliver Davis says that's not enough.

The St. Joseph County Election Board voted unanimously Friday to keep Republican county assessor candidate Mike Castellon on the November ballot. Castellon — the current Penn Township assessor — had faced a challenge over his residency.
