Republican Rep. Jim Banks announces U.S. Senate run

Northeast Indiana Republican Rep. Jim Banks announced today that he is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by GOP Sen. Mike Braun. Braun will not be running for a second term in the Senate, and is instead running for Indiana Governor. Banks has been an outspoken leader of the right wing of the Republican party in the House. Banks is the first Republican to file for this Senate seat.
