IU South Bend 'Pop-Up University' At LangLab Oct. 17 Looks At Abolishing The Electoral College

In the spirit of a TED talk, IU South Bend is offering another installment of its lecture series billed as a 'Pop-Up University.'

On Thursday, October 17th from 7-8pm, Elizabeth Bennion will lead a discussion at the LangLab in South Bend entitled Pondering Pete's Proposal: Should We Abolish the Electoral College?

The title is in reference to South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg's talking point put forward on the campaign trail as he tries to gain traction as a Democratic candidate for president. Buttigieg is a proponent of moving to a popular vote count to determine the winner of the U.S. presidential race.

Bennion joined IU South Bend's Dept. of Political Science 20 years ago. She is a founding director of IU South Bend's American Democracy Project, a leader with the League of Women Voters of South Bend and she hosts WNIT's Politically Speaking program.
