WARSAW, Ind. (AP) — Police in Warsaw say an 8-year-old boy was fatally struck by a car while crossing a street near an elementary school.
The Warsaw Police Department says the boy who was hit about 1:45 p.m. Monday was attending summer school. The boy was being taken to a Fort Wayne hospital but the ambulance diverted to a Columbia City hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the boy was in the crosswalk when he was hit by the car outside Harrison Elementary School. The crash involving a 24-year-old driver remains under investigation.
