Gateway To Work In Indiana Brings Changes To Medicaid Recipients

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana is the latest state to implement work requirements for low-income residents who receive their health insurance through Medicaid, a change that opponents warn will cost some under-resourced Hoosiers their health coverage.

WFYI reports that Indiana's Gateway to Work program began July 1.

It started at 20 hours per month before increasing to 80 hours by July 2020.

Roughly 72,000 people will need to report hours of work or other activity to Indiana in order to keep their health coverage.
