Hoosier Political Figures Launch Voter Engagement Effort, Indiana Citizen

indianacitizen.org

Indiana consistently ranks among the bottom 10 states for voter registration and turnout. And a new non-profit hopes to turn that around with the launch of a voter engagement effort called the Indiana Citizen.

Ann and Bill Moreau are former longtime aides to Birch and Evan Bayh. And Bill Moreau says their brainchild, IndianaCitizen.org, will be a one-stop-shop for voter registration and information about candidates on the ballot.

“Basic biographical information, voting records, bills sponsored,” Bill Moreau says.

The Moreaus launched the site with other high-profile Hoosier politicos, including major GOP donor Bob Grand and former Todd Young campaign manager Trevor Foughty. And that bipartisan backing is important, says Bill Moreau.

“Everybody on that list shares one common value and that is we need more Hoosiers to vote and we need to provide them a way to get access to reliable, unbiased information before they cast their ballot,” Bill Moreau says.

The group will be raising money to help operate the site and potentially run a statewide communications campaign to drive more people to it.
