Grace College In Winona Lake Reports One Student Tested For Coronavirus

Today Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, announced that one Grace student has been tested for the coronavirus. The student is awaiting test results at home and not on campus. 

In the meantime, Grace has canceled chapel, large group visits, overnight guests and its Silver Scholars Program.

Here is the statement from Grace College: 

WINONA LAKE, IND. -- Grace College is closely monitoring developments of the novel coronavirus.  A response team has been assembled on campus to continually assess the situation, develop response plans and coordinate communication.  Grace College administrators are in regular contact with local and state health departments, the Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Education.

To date, there are no reported or confirmed cases of the coronavirus among Grace students, faculty or staff.  One Grace student has been tested for the coronavirus. While awaiting test results, the student is at home (not on campus) per the recommendation of the Indiana Department of Health.

Grace has taken the precaution to cancel chapel, large group visits, overnight guests, and its Silver Scholars Program for the foreseeable future. A final decision regarding the NCCAA tournament will be made by the end of this week.

Grace College President Dr. Bill Katip commented, “Our highest priority is to safeguard the health and well-being of our students and employees.  We will continue to closely monitor coronavirus developments and make decisions accordingly, including the possibility of online instruction.”
