Gunshot Victim Dies In South Bend

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Satuday morning in South Bend.

On June 13, 2020 at approximately 3:53 a.m. South Bend Police Department officers
responded to the 3400 block of Curtiss Drive in South Bend, IN regarding a citizen who
reported gunshots being fired and observing an individual lying on the ground. Upon
arriving in the neighborhood, officers found a male juvenile on the ground suffering gunshot wound injuries; he was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced
deceased.

South Bend Police Department officers secured the crime scene. A representative of the St. Joseph County Coroner Office was contacted and per protocol, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was activated and is currently handling the investigation.

Potential witnesses at the scene of this incident have not been forthcoming with information about this incident. There is no suspect information to release at this time, and no arrests have been made. The identity of the juvenile victim is not being released at this time.

This is an active and on-going investigation. An autopsy will be conducted and an update will be provided when more information is available for release.
