The pandemic has driven many to seek outdoor activities and safer ways to travel, causing demand for recreational vehicles to soar. Now, the RV Industry Association is reporting its sixth straight month of record shipments

The association’s April survey found manufacturers had shipped close to 52,000 RVs by the end of the month, the most for any April on record.

Association spokesperson Monika Geraci said while the pandemic spurred demand, the association’s surveys show demand may remain high even after life returns to normal.

“The top reasons for people buying RVs were the same reasons they’ve always bought RVs," she said. "That speaks to kind of this long-term appeal of RV-ing.”

Geraci said manufacturers have encountered the same labor shortages and supply-chain issues facing many industries across the U.S. But, she said manufacturers have still shipped a record number of RVs every month for the last six months.
