St. Joseph County In Blue On Indiana's Latest COVID-19 Map

For the first time since the Indiana Department of Health launched its COVID-19 tracking map, St. Joseph County is in the "blue" category, which indicates the lowest spread of the coronavirus.

Four other WVPE listener counties are also in the blue: Pulaski, Fulton and LaGrange counties maintained their blue status from last week, while Marshall County moved to the blue from the “yellow” category.

LaPorte, Starke and Elkhart counties all remained in the yellow this week, which indicates moderate spread of the virus. The only county that saw conditions worsen was Kosciusko County, which moved from the blue category to the yellow this week.

Last week, no Hoosier counties were in the "orange" category – which indicates high spread of the virus – for the first time in more than two months. However, Owen County, in the southwestern part of the state, moved from the yellow to the orange this week.

According to the state’s vaccine dashboard, 43.5% of Hoosiers over age 12 are now fully vaccinated. That’s about one percentage point higher than last week.
