Elkhart plans to clean up the old Roundhouse site and is asking neighbors what should come next for the long-vacant property west of downtown.

The money comes to the state from the Lilly Endowment, as part of Indiana's regional approach to economic development launched under former Gov. Eric Holcomb.

City leaders say the project is a necessary first step towards courting private investment in the historically under served area.
