Fire burns a home Friday, Sept. 18 on Erie Falls Drive in South Bend's Lafayette Falls subdivision southwest of Kern Road and Old U.S. 31. A city spokeswoman says the city's response to the fire was prompt but residents want the city to contract with Centre Township Fire, which is closer than the city's York Road fire station, to serve the growing subdivision.

Lafayette Falls residents want city to address traffic, safety concerns

Residents, along with South Bend Common Council members Sherry Bolden-Simpson and Oliver Davis Jr., want the city to do more to improve traffic safety and emergency response in the growing Lafayette Falls subdivision.

The former El Campito Early Childhood Center at 1024 W. Thomas St. Trinity School plans to move into the building after El Campito vacated it last year.
