This morning several thousand people in a swath from Elkhart southeast to Fort Wayne were without power for several hours.
The outage this morning was caused by an equipment problem.
Schnee Garrett-Garcia is a spokesperson for Indiana Michigan Power.
“Around 6:30 this morning there was an equipment issue that effected several of our substations, which caused about 13,500 customers to be without power in the greater Elkhart area,” Garrett-Garcia says.
Further information about the exact cause of the equipment problem was not available.
Garrett-Garcia says all customers should have had the power back on by noon today.
