St. Joseph County Commissioners approve emergency county jail roof replacement

Justin Hicks / WVPE

The St. Joseph County Commissioners unanimously approved an emergency roof replacement for the county jail Tuesday morning.

Brian Davidson, the jail's building engineer, told the council that high winds back in December caused a large section of the roof of the jail’s administration building to fail.

The emergency replacement will cost $242,600. The contract was awarded to Midland Engineering, which was the only bidder.

Davidson said the company was also the only nearby option that had materials available for the replacement.
