A juvenile has been taken into custody in relation to a stabbing at South Bend’s John Adams High School Tuesday morning.
According to social media posts from the South Bend Police Department, officers responded to a stabbing at the school shortly after 8 a.m.
One student was wounded and taken to the hospital, but was reported to be in stable condition.
The school was placed on lockdown until early Tuesday afternoon. An update from the police department says the length of the lockdown was necessary to give officers “a secure environment to carry out investigations, locate suspects, preserve crime scenes and talk to witnesses.”
An update from the department Tuesday night says the juvenile is being detained at the Juvenile Justice Center and is awaiting formal charges from the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
