This August, Downtown South Bend is serving up something sweet. Cool off and celebrate the season at August First Fridays: Ice Cream Social — a signature summer block party packed with frozen treats, live entertainment, and the best of downtown all in one night!

With music and lyrics by Indiana-native Cole Porter, Anything Goes is a sparkling musical comedy brimming with wit, romance, and unforgettable songs. Set aboard a glamorous ocean liner, the show follows a lively cast of characters as they navigate romance, mistaken identities, and hilarious misunderstandings. With iconic numbers such as “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” and “You’re the Top,” Anything Goes delivers high-energy musical performances and comedic moments that have delighted audiences for decades.

At Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, the fun feels even closer. Performed in our intimate theatre-in-the-round, the humor, music, and chaos surround you on all sides. You will feel like you’re part of the adventure, experiencing every joke, every twist, and every dazzling musical number up close. It is a joyous, exhilarating, and unforgettable night at the theater.

The Bill Boris Trio is a contemporary jazz group which performs jazz standards, pop tunes, and original compositions. The trio expands the vintage platform of the organ trio to launch into more modern sounds and arrangements, and their own brand of grooves and swing.

Each Saturday, take a step back in time. Visit Pears Mill, an 1857 water-powered mill. Located in Buchanan, Michigan’s downtown Historic District. The mill is adjacent to Buchanan Farmers Market. Frequent demonstrations. Pears Mill is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday from May 6th through Labor Day. There is no charge

Join us for fun at our annual Ice Cream Social and Car Show on Sunday, August 9th from 1 - 4 pm eastern. There will be make-your-own sundaes, root beer floats, and delicious homemade pies and cakes to purchase at the museum. The car show will be a free drive-in event coordinated by the Outsiders Auto Club. The cars will be on display in the municipal lot behind the museum.
