Four Winds Casino South Bend broke ground today on a 23 story, 317 room hotel. It's is a major expansion on the property. It will have conference and event spaces, a ballroom, a new restaurant and a day spa to the east of the casino.

Since before the Casino in South Bend opened, the plan was to expand in that space.

“From when we first opened to now, finally I’ve been asked ‘when’s the hotel coming?’ So it’s pretty monumental," said Frank Freedman, the COO of Four Winds Casinos.

An artist rendering of the new Four Winds Hotel South Bend shows the 23 story tower and the fourth floor outdoor terrace and swimming pool.

The hotel is expected to create 400 construction jobs, then more than 100 permanent positions once it’s finished.

Construction will begin in earnest next month. The hotel is expected to open in Fall of 2021.
