Purdue Suspends Travel To China

Saturday Purdue University issued a statement concerning travel to China.

Here is a look at information that was emailed out to students:

Purdue University has suspended all university-sponsored trips to China based on the U.S. State Department’s

Level 4: Do Not Travel Advisory  due to the novel coronavirus. The advisory, issued January 30, recommends American citizens avoid travel to China, and asks those in the country to depart.

In addition, Purdue will end the study abroad semester early for six students in Shanghai, China and return them to the United States.  Purdue will cover travel costs for those affected and every effort will be made to ensure the students have assistance regarding housing, financial resources and enrollment into classes once they return to campus.

Purdue has seen no positive cases of coronavirus and will continue to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  and federal regulations. Updates from the Purdue University Student Health Service can be found here.
