UPDATE: Michigan City Extends Closure Of Beaches

https://www.emichigancity.com/320/Washington-Park-Beach

NEW:

Thursday Michigan City's Mayor signed an executive order extending the beach closures through July 30. This applies not only to Washington Park but also the senior center and the zoo and parking areas that surround those facilities.

Michigan City beaches will be closed for at least another week after the City’s mayor extended his executive order to keep them closed due to the continued spike in COVID-19 cases.

Mayor Duane Parry first signed the executive order to close Michigan City beaches on July 16th after he said beaches were overcrowded by guests not following social distancing guidelines.

The city council voted this week *not* to extend the closures ...so the Mayor extended the order on his own.

You can read the executive order here.
