UPDATE: Indiana State Dept. Of Health Offers More Free COVID-19 Testing In Elkhart County This Week

ISDH will host two free testing sites in Elkhart County Tuesday (Aug. 11) through Saturday (Aug. 15) of this week:

Meantime, Goshen Health has released new stats and comments from the Chief Medical Officer for its facility.

COVID-19 activity for Goshen Health as of August 10, going back to March 11. 

Testing:
11,586 tests completed
1,483 positive test results (overall positivity rate of 13.1%)
9,839 negative test results
211 outstanding test results

Hospitalizations:
207 hospital admissions
196 hospital discharges
23 confirmed COVID-19 positive related mortalities

 

“Because of the virus circulating in our community, it is critical that people continue to wear masks, physical distance, wash hands and stay home when sick. In addition, we all need to avoid crowded events, particularly those that are indoors where it can be difficult to physically distance from others,” said Dr. Dan Nafziger, Goshen Hospital Chief Medical Officer and Infectious Disease Specialist. “Without all these precautions, we will have a worsened outbreak.” 

 

UPDATE (Posted Aug. 9): 

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana public health officials are reporting a fourth consecutive day of more than 1,000 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. The Indiana State Department of Health also reported one new coronavirus death.

Overall, the state has had 74,328 coronavirus cases and 2,835 deaths. More than 840,000 tests have been administered. Also, Sunday Students at Indiana University began moving in. University officials say students have to undergo a COVID-19 test before moving in. The moving in period will be spread over 12 days. 

NEW (Posted Aug. 8):

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — State health officials say 13 more Indiana residents have died from COVID-19 and the state has recorded more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for the third straight day. The Indiana State Department of Health said Saturday that the new deaths raise Indiana's pandemic toll to 3,036, including confirmed and presumed cases. The state agency reported 1,036 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, following the 1,253 new cases reported Friday and 1,051 new cases reported Thursday. The new cases reported Saturday bring the state's total number of confirmed cases to 73,287.

NEW: Today Indiana reported its second back-to-back day of new all time high daily case counts for COVID-19. Wednesday the state went over the 1,000 mark for daily cases for the first time and newly released data from the Indiana State Dept. of Health shows that Thursday the state topped that figure with 1,253 new cases.

In newly released data from the Indiana State Dept. of Health, the state hit a new high in daily COVID-19 cases on Aug. 5. On Wednesday, the state reported 1,050 new cases. It's the first time the state's daily case count has gone over 1,000. 

Meantime, St. Joseph County also saw a new daily high in cases on Aug. 5. According to state figures the county had 79 new cases.

As of Aug. 5th, St. Joseph County Health officials were reporting that their "active cases" were in the red (as it relates to school re-opening guidance) and the county was averaging 47.1 cases per day (red) in the last seven days. The county’s R0 estimate as of Aug 5th was 0.78 (yellow). The test positivity rate was 4.7% (as of 7/29/2020 was in the green).
