Today the Chair of St. Joseph Co. Democrats, Joseph F. Canarecci, resigned.
The resignation takes effect immediately.
Canarecci said he is, "employed in an industry that is subject to strict and often changing regulations. In the interest of erring on the side of caution, it has been determined that a role in party leadership is not suitable. This is not a decision I am happy to make. I am a lifelong Democrat and have devoted countless hours to our Party, both before being Chairman and certainly while serving in this position. I aim to continue doing so as well. Nevertheless, my devotion to the Party and the values we share simply could not override the devotion I have to my family and my ability to provide for them."
Canarecci said there will be a caucus to fill the vacancy.
