Gun Violence Memorial In South Bend - Buttigieg Attends

Justin HIcks/WVPE

Wednesday night people gathered on the basketball court at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreational Center in South Bend to remember victims of gun violence, including Eric Logan.

Logan was killed by a South Bend Police officer Sunday.

Organizers designed the event as a forum for concerned community members  to share and to vent their frustrations.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and his husband Chasten attended. Buttigieg had been criticized by some in the community for not attending a vigil for Logan that was held Monday.

One man who spoke out at the event said, “We know the justice system is corrupt.”

Efforts are also being made by concerned citizens to try and schedule a rally this weekend to call more attention to the death of Eric Logan.
