We Make Indiana has invited St. Joseph County Council candidates to a voter forum Tuesday and county sheriff candidates to a forum next Thursday (Oct. 8).

St. Joseph County Democratic Party Chair Don Westerhausen says he met the requirements of election law on Friday when he filed forms with the county election board verifying that he selected four candidates for the Nov. 3 ballot.

Some of the higher-profile races in Tuesday's primary elections include contested GOP races for St. Joseph County Council, Elkhart County sheriff and Indiana State Senate District 11.

Vote results weren't yet in by deadline on what was perhaps the night's highest-profile ballot item, whether marijuana can be sold in Niles Township.

Niles Township voters on Tuesday will again be asked whether they support marijuana sales, despite the fact that they approved it in last November's election.
