Body Of South Bend Man Found In New Carlisle After Crash

A New Carlisle homeowner awoke to find wreckage on their property Sunday morning. Police found the body of the driver 60 feet away.

 
Here is the release from the St. Joseph County Police Dept.  in its entirety: 

At approximately at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning dispatch received a call from a homeowner in 29000 block of highway US 20, in New Carlisle stating a silver SUV was wrecked in their yard near a horse trailer and barn. Officers arrived to discover a silver Ford Escape had left the roadway near a curved section of the highway. After leaving the highway, the SUV rolled-over multiple times traveling another 300 feet through a field, before coming to a rest against the horse trailer. The body of Horacio Reyes-Miramontes, age 32 of South Bend was found lying approximately 60 feet beyond the vehicle. Reyes-Miramontes was ejected from the rear of the vehicle during the crash. 

County Police have learned Reyes-Miramontes attended a family event in LaPorte county Saturday evening and was travelling alone on his way back to South Bend  during the early hours of Sunday morning.The family of Reyes-Miramontes has been notified. 

St. Joseph County Police is handling the investigation. A toxicology test will be conducted. An earlier release incorrectly stated FACT was assisting in the investigation.
